Questions for MailChimp

  • We have Single Sign-on user accounts that are used accessible by multiple networks but not by all networks. How do we send e-mail campaigns to a user account in two networks (A and B) without creating two duplicate entries in mailchimp, one in network A's list and one in network B's list?
Answer: You just need to create a group/interest column. Then upload an address to your list and in the group/interest column note which network they belong to. Then when sending content you can segment recipients based on the group/interest column.

  • Do we have to pre-populate creatives (manually) in MailChimp?
Answer:
You can do this under step 3 of the campaign building process.

  • If not, are we able to send HTML emails through the API?
Answer:
You can, just look for the campaign related methods located in the API documentation area: http://www.mailchimp.com/api/

  • If not, would we be able to track using MailChimp's GIF web beacons
Answer:
Our tracking beacon is dynamically built and inserted in messages as we send them.

  • If so, how do we add dynamic elements such as "Dear %First Name%," to each email?
Answer:
You'll use what we call interenally MERGE tags. If you need it, our MERGE tag information can be found by visiting http://www.mailchimp.com/help/ keyword "merge".

  • Can MailChimp handle Double Opt Ins and then report back to our database through the API whether an e-mail address was double opted in?
Answer:
Yes
  • We have had issues with non-delivery because we use Google Apps. This may have happened because on a pingback of the email address, smtp.gmail.com is discovered and the email is assumed to come from a non-business email address. Will this be a problem? If so, what is our solution? Should we find a different email provider?
Answer:
It shouldn't be an issue through our service so long as you leave the authentication option turned on for all of your campaigns.
